Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend was fun filled with lots of activities for the kids especially, I wore these DIY shorts with my Forever 21 netted top that was purchased a few months ago. The day was very hot and humid so this kept me cool and comfy.  I paired it with my BCBG Generations wedges and my large hoop earrings along with my fav sun glasses for this summer :).  I threw my Tommy Hilfiger sling bag around me and we were out!  We started out in Downtown Manhattan, where we got some burgers from Shake Shack, these burgers are not only delicious but organic.  I am usually not a burger person but these are to die for, they are extra juicy and just the perfect texture.  The milk shakes are the bomb :).  It can be a little pricy but its worth it when you have the craving for a great burger.  Hands down the best burger I have ever eaten.  We then headed to Fleet week, where there was an extremely long line, :(  but decided to wait anyway.  Apart front he heat, which was not a big deal...because we cooled down with water; the day turned out well, except for the end where we had to become plumbers.  We had a major leak in our home and could not find a plumber to come that very day.  We were out of water since we had to turn off the main that fuels water through the entire house.  So we Googled what was needed to fix that leak and headed to the Home Depot and set out to work, we finished until 11 p.m that night but the leak was fixed with some soldering and we were able to take a shower  whoooo....It was worth it though because we probably would have had to pay a plumber about $300 to fix it.  Hope you guys like and thanks for your comments.

Facial Care

Pasted Graphic.tiff
Pasted Graphic 2.tiffDaily facial cleansing depends on your your skin type and what works for you.  To keep your face looking youthful; you need to properly cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize.  For me; I follow a simple daily facial cleansing routine.  I cleanse and exfoliate daily and simultaneously, with a CVS Pharmacy brand - deep cleansing, exfoliating scrub which gives me that radiant glow. The oil free formula cleanses pores deep down while exfoliating skin, the gentle micro scrubbers soften skin and remove dirt, oil and makeup without over drying.  The cooling sensation gives my face that refreshing tingle that I need in the morning .   Exfoliating is extremely important since it removes dull, dry, dead skin…..they say the reason men's skin look more youthful than women is because they shave every day;  well women lets keep up and exfoliate every day :). I am no expert but apart from being blessed with great skin, this cleanser and exfoliator works miracles for me and I don't have to spend a lot on it. I have never had issues with pimples or acne….knock on wood :); but I see no reason to spend a ton on expensive cleansers, they do the same job, just avoid using bar soaps on your face.  After cleansing I moisturize with Olay total effects 7 in 1 anti-aging moisturizer and Vaseline Petroleum Jelly at nights and in the winter;  it gives my skin that nice moist glow and gets rid  of any dry patches that can develop with face powder.  Olay total effects used as a daily moisturizer helps you to achieve visibly younger looking skin and build skin's resilience toward the effects of aging.  It is fast absorbing, oil free and won't clog your pores.  It also comes with a touch of foundation if you like.  Simple straight forward and inexpensive.  At some point I think I will have to invest in some eye cream to minimize those fine lines and wrinkles but for now my Olay total effects and vaseline seem to be working for me.  Some may disagree but for me this is what works for my skin.

Day at the Brooklyn Museum

We took the kids out last weekend to the Brooklyn Museum, the weather was great so we were able to dress a little loose.  We go there a lot during the summer,  if you choose not to go into the museum you can just sit outside, relax, tan, read a book or just watch your kids run around, the atmosphere is great and the the water fountain adds to the relaxation.  The colored jeggings which were purchased from Express, I have worn a couple times but never got to take photos in them, I have them in white and red as well and will be getting the salmon pink and mint green also, :) I am loving the spring colors.  They can be worn casually with slippers or wedges or dress them up with heels and accessories. I wore mine very casual but have also dressed them up on occasions.  My top is snaked skinned and was purchased from Marshalls,   its one of my favorite don't be surprised if you see them in another post later on :)  I tried to stay warm with my orange shawl which I purchased from one of the street vendors here in NYC…..don't you just love the color?  For me I like to buy clothes that I can wear several times,  though they are inexpensive I like to get my money's worth, so I will mix and match them with several pieces.  My sandals are from Steve Madden and my sunglasses which are probably the most expensive piece in this outfit is from Balenciaga.  Accessories from Forever21.  Hand bag - Chinese Laundry.  Just my way of keeping up with fashion on a budget or by spending less! Thanks for your comments and hope you like! XOXOX

Kids

Kids, for all parents I am sure they are your everything.  Having them can be confusing but once they are here the feeling and emotions that over take you are unexplainable, for me it’s a kind of love that I have never experienced and for each child I felt the same way when I first held them……I love each one of mine like they are my only one….and no......I do not have a favorite.  Do you? I would love to hear your comments!

Life in NYC

Wonderful weather here in NYC. Took a walk in Times Square today! Kids had fun running through ToysRus. The place to check out for food and a few stores for shopping.

Diet & Exercise

As moms, wives, professional women and every other title we may hold as women, we carry a heavy load, which can make it difficult to find time to eat healthy since we are constantly on the go.  Exercising...forget it ….who has time for that …well you may if you have a housekeeper or chef J or you choose to eat out. For me I find eating a little here and there helps rather than a whole lot at one time.  My day starts with a glass of milk….egg whites or boiled eggs and whole grain toast. Lunch is usually something very light maybe a light roast beef or turkey sandwich with a fruit smoothie.  I am a fish lover so dinner for me can be fried red snapper, baked tilapia or steamed fish head with some vegetables.  I try to stay away from carbs like rice and potatoes.  I am no professional but I try to follow a simple regime of healthy foods….I snack in between meals, which ranges from fruits or Oreos to fried green plantain chips, as well as my fav Haagen- Dazs ice-cream.  I believe you can eat whatever you like …the key is in moderation and then jump on the tread mill or   gazelle in my case and burn it outJ.  But yeah… I would love to hear what diet secrets you all have to staying slim or even woes to help others stay away from them…..we all have them.
